A Survey of Knowledge and Attitudes about COVID-19 Infection among Nursing Students

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine knowledge and attitude about Covid-19 infection among nursing student.

Methods: This study utilized a descriptive methodology, and the survey participants were 200 nursing students in B city. Data were collected from self-reported questionnaires between April 1 and 30, 2022. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, ANOVA and Pearson¡¯s correlation coefficient using the IBM SPSS 22.0 program.

Results: The correct answer rate for the student¡¯s knowledge about COVID-19 infection was 83.3%, the mean of Attitude was 4.09¡¾0.62. There was no correlations between the knowledge and the attitude about Covid-19 infection among nursing students. The degree of knowledge was significantly different according to grade. and The degree of attitude was significantly different according to grade, perceived health status, and clinical practice satisfaction.

Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to provide nursing students with opportunities to acquire professional knowledge and practice on infectious disease control so that they can lower their fear and rejection of infection even in the context of an outbreak of a new infectious disease.
